Justien Senoa Wood
(Northern Tutchone, Dene) is a gifted multi‑disciplinary artist from Yukon, Canada, and a proud member of the Na‑Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation and the Wolf Clan. Since childhood she has drawn and painted, finding her voice in carving, painting, and beading—a practice launched in 2007 as a student in the Sundog Carving Program. In 2009 she apprenticed under Dene/Tlingit carver Victor Reece, collaborating on a 30‑foot red cedar dugout canoe project alongside key mentors including Wayne Price and others in the Sundog Carvers collective. Her debut solo exhibition took place in 2012 at the Northern Cultural Expressions Society, and she continues to build her artistic career through workshops, community teaching, festivals, and markets. Justien blends her Northern Tutchone/Dene spirit into all her work. She often reflects traditional motifs and a deep connection to land, sky, and water, reinterpreted through bold color, texture, and contemporary form. As she says: “Art expresses our traditions and our deep connection to the land, sky and water.”In recent projects—like the eye‑catching artwork on your front door and branded packaging—Justien employs layers of paint, carving, and textural elements from mixed media on wood surfaces. These works strike a harmonious balance between modern abstraction and cultural storytelling, evoking both ancestral heritage and fresh visual energy.
As a parent and independent creator, Justien continues learning and evolving—now integrating beadwork into her carving, experimenting with new media, and creating functional and decorative art that resonates with joy, identity, and the spirit of the Yukon We are proud to have commissioned original artwork from Justien which is featured in our soap shop studio door, on our hotel amenity line and a most recently a custom box for Holt Renfrew.

Cresenthia Melancon
I am a single mother to an amazing young boy named Dallas, of whom I am incredibly proud. I come from the Wolf Clan of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. I graduated from high school in 2007 as Valedictorian and later attended Yukon College, where I earned my Native Language Instructor certificate. I then worked as a Language Teacher at J.V. Clark School for seven years, teaching Native Language, an experience I found truly rewarding.
Afterward, I became the Language Coordinator for my First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. I love learning, teaching, and working with NND Citizens and Elders. The beauty of our language, its connection to the land, and its ties to our ancestors are things I deeply cherish.
In addition to my work, I also enjoy beadwork. I find joy in bringing creations to life with vibrant colours, and the process is therapeutic. I am always amazed by the outcome.
My journey has been a happy one, and I believe there's nothing I can't achieve. So, continue to shine!
